Why I'm Running

I’m running for Town Council because I love Rutherfordton and believe the decisions we make now will shape our town for years to come. With the new bypass bringing change, I want us to plan ahead so Rutherfordton can benefit from what comes next without losing the small-town feel, historic character, vibrant downtown, and strong sense of community that make it special.I live, work, and volunteer here, and I want to bring that perspective to the table. That means looking carefully at the facts, considering how decisions affect different parts of our town, and weighing not only what works today, but what will serve Rutherfordton well in the future.

I’m a Rutherford County native, and after spending some years away, I made my way back home to Rutherfordton. Today, my husband Steven and I live downtown, and I own Mill Hill General Store on Main Street. Living and working here has given me the opportunity to know Rutherfordton not only as a resident, but through the people who visit, shop, work, volunteer, raise families, and build community here.My involvement began downtown and grew from there. Through Rutherford Town Rising, the Historic Preservation Commission, and the Planning Board, I’ve had the chance to learn more about how our town works and how decisions are made. That experience has given me a broader understanding of how the pieces of Rutherfordton connect, and Town Council feels like the next step in my service to this community.I know there will always be more to learn, and I expect to keep learning, ask questions, listen to different perspectives, and do the work needed to make informed decisions for the whole town.
